Off the book!!!

I am highly ashamed to report that I have been off the book the past few months!!! Sometimes life happens and the best laid plans....well, you probably know the rest! I have picked it back up. I may start all over, then again....I may not. I am going to re-read the first part and then pick up where I left of.
"It feels like the first time, it feels like the very first time...."
I think I will also share my woes and victories of the "First Sock". Well, it is not totally the first one. I did knit a couple of stockings many years ago and a plain sock (I never got around to finishing the second one). This feels like the first time though. It is the first time for a toe-up sock! I think I like it!
I'll be back soon!

I'm Back!!!!

I can not believe it has been so long since I posted! I have been so busy at work...well, at home with work! I haven't had time to knit, cross-stitch or do much of anything....but work!!!

I did begin Chapter 2 in Fearless Knitting! Anyone with me! I have the rib-stitch sampler finished! I did it while watching the movie Precious with my daughters. Wow, what a movie! Have any of you seen it! It left us quiet for a while....then it got me to thinking. I am not ready to share what I am thinking yet. I am not really sure. It is such a powerful film with a powerful story.

Anyway, because of being enthralled in the movie...a good excuse anyway :o)....I did not pay much attention to gauge. What do ya know....that does happen to be my weakness in knitting doesn't it? LOL

I used Lion Brand worsted cotton with size 7 straight needles....my 6 needles are otherwise occupied. I only got 5 stitches per inch where the gauge called for 7 stitches and seven rows =1". Me thinks my needle was too large and my knittin' too loose, matey!

I'll post a pic later. It is too late to bother with it now!

I am not going to redo this however. I am perfectly comfortable with rib stitch. I will say I find doing 2x2 ribbing easier and quicker. I also like the look of it better than the 1x1. Each has its purpose, though.

I will pay more attention to gauge next round. I guess I had better head to my LYS and get another pair of #6 needles! Poor me.............

The work begins!!

We have officially kicked off the Fearless Knitting KAL on Ravelry! This is going to be fun! Prizes are going to be awarded by drawings for those who finish each chapter on time!!!

I am also participating in a Mystery KAL with She_knits! This is fun! It is going to be a shawlette! Let me see if I can get the picture to post!
Okay...there it is at the top. This is the finished piece of the first clue. Cool, huh?
I will post soon about the first chapter of the book!

Ravelry Group

Rachelynn and I have created of group on Ravelry for anyone who wants to work through the book together! It should be lots of fun! I am so psyched and ready to get started! Check it out! I'll post a link as soon as I figure out how!

I have done a quick scan through the book. I really look forward to gaining an understanding of gauge and how an actual stitch works. Does that make sense? I am one to not pay attention to gauge and I can see that my finished projects suffer for it. I am quite tired of putting all the time and love into a project and it comes out looking...well...crappy!

Don't get me wrong! I can knit a mean washcloth! But, I am on hat number 2 for my brother because I just knew if I used the size 13 needles and double the yarn it would turn out just fine! Well, it didn't! It was HUGE and mis-shaped!!! AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!!

Thanks to my first follower!!!! I am tickled to have you!!! :o)

The Beginning.....

I love to knit!!! I hate to knit!!! No, I take that back. I really love it. I just don't understand it!!! Even though I have been knitting off and on for around 20 years, I still feel like an amateur!!! I am going to tackle the Fearless Knitting Workbook-The Step-by-Step Guide to Knitting Confidence by Jennifer E. Seiffert. I hope to gain a better understanding of my craft and to deepen my connection. I also hope to learn to knit better and eventually, design my own creations!!! A lofty assignment to myself, you say!!?? Join me! I am going to blog my experience as I work through this book! Anyone up for the challenge? Join me!!!
